The ways of classic romantics are not forgotten - Caroline & Edmund's wedding was case in point. There was a sense of sentimental and timeless love surrounding their day, a very poetic and intimate mood among 40 of their closest family and friends. Sure, there are so many different types of weddings - the earthy, boot-stompin' kind. the soul-shakedown-reception-that-goes-all-night kind. the contemporary kind. each wedding unique. each just as wonderful. Caroline & Edmund's wedding was, indeed, wonderful - it was completely and beautifully its OWN. Caroline & Edmund were married at the Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch in Beaver Creek, Colorado - an AMAZING escape with moody interiors, elegant ballrooms, cozy corners and of course, breathtaking views. And if the views weren't enough, they hired Heather at Table 6 Productions and Cindy at the Perfect Petal to put the polishing touches on the day. Special thanks to Kevin Von Qualen for shooting with me. And now for the story...
Caroline and her mother pinned her mother's keepsake ring on the inside of the dress - her something borrowed - and blue! They were too sweet together.
There is such an elegance in the way Caroline carries herself - she has put so much thought into the day and took the time to embrace each bit of the day - with an ease and appreciation that really showed. Edmund gave her this necklace as her wedding gift...
Caroline seeing her Dad.
Edmund and his groomsmen.
And the ladies...
Cindy at the Perfect Petal really WOWed us with her work - I love love love her fresh spin on the bridesmaids' bouquets.
And the programs and ceremony readings were perfectly polished. Not a detail missed. Caroline printed her vows on the purple paper - to carry behind her bouquet. And the readings - from their favorite classic books including the Velveteen Rabbit - were rolled into ornate scrolls.
And for the first time, Caroline makes her way down the aisle, meeting Edmund at last.
Their ceremony was held outdoors on the back patio of the Ritz. Heather made sure guests were taken care of with space heaters and these very wintry blankets...love it!
They wrote their own vows - very sweet and romantic.
Did I mention we had some special guests?! Meet Atticus - Caroline's favorite furry friend.
They planned several special details for the ceremony - including this rose ceremony wherein they gave roses to their parents and grandparents.
Newlyweds!
It was pretty windy up there later in the day. Caroline's cathedral veil, embroidered with their initials and wedding date, danced in the wind. The way these two relate to one another speaks volumes about that classic romanticism that they share...very sweet.
The English feel to their reception - a job well-done by Heather at Table 6 Productions. I loved the hedges and simple touches of elegance.
At 6:15, the hour they first met, Caroline & Edmund lit the candles of their guests' tables - in a "unity ceremony." This was the first time I had seen this at a reception - and a very intimate way to greet their guests. The last table they were to light was their own.
Toasts.
Their first dance.
Congrats Caroline & Edmund! It was an absolute joy to be a part of your day - you share something so special and I have no doubt you'll continue to find the poetry in all of life's details. lots of love, Katie |
