ALYSON & DANIEL'S WEDDING
Wednesday, October 29, 2008

All the signs for a perfect day presented themselves for Alyson & Daniel's wedding.  I woke up to a forecast any bride would only hope for in late October - 70 degrees and sunny skies were just the beginning of the many blessings and joys so apparent on their big day. From their traditional Jewish ceremony at the Hebrew Educational Alliance to the knock-your-socks-off reception at the Ritz Carlton in Denver, this day was so alive with stories. Many thanks to Alyson and Daniel, all of their families, and Lisa & Leslie at Affair with Flair for putting on such a stunning event.

Before making it to Alyson's suite where she'd be getting ready, I noticed the Denver Post daily headline - how fitting for such an epic day in their story.

While we were lucky to have Alyson's grandmother at the ceremony, Daniel's grandmothers have health problems that would keep them from celebrating such an important day. This is not easy for any family, as you can imagine. So they did the best they could - making a visit just hours before the ceremony. Words cannot do justice to the beauty of the moments to come. The entire group - Daniel, his family and their grandma - sat together, overwhelmed with nostalgia and love.  These images, at best, approximate just a sliver of love in the room.

Daniel's father watches as his mother embraces her grandson. There was such a peaceful quietness to the emotions in that room.

She has so much love.

We worked our way to the synagogue to meet up with Alyson. I loved her pink shoes! And Newberry Brothers put together some amazing bouquets.

Watching and waiting as guests arrive.

Alyson & Daniel's wedding incorporated many traditional Jewish elements.  Just before the ceremony, the tish and the bedeken were underway. This is where the day comes to life! It is such a lively celebration rooted in history. During the tish, Daniel was segregated from Alyson in a separate room as the men toasted him.  Meanwhile, Alyson - joined by all the leading ladies in the family - paraded into the foyer where she was greeted and embraced.  During the bedeken, Daniel finally joins Alyson, veiling his bride.  It is quite the beautiful reunion.

Making her way...

Daniel sees his bride for the first time. And proud parents look on.

...and everyone wants a peek.

After the ceremony, we headed back to the Ritz Carlton in Denver. Away they went in the Ritz's very own Rolls Royce - one of many great services that the Ritz provides to its wedding clients.

Some details from their elegant reception. Newberry Brothers, Design Works and Affair with Flair each had a hand in the stunning turn-out of the room.  Beautiful!

Because everyone could use a little Sinatra during dinner...

Parent dances.

The last dance...so in love.

Mazel Tov Alyson & Daniel! I am so grateful to both of you...and what a beautiful couple you make!

Katie

ANDREW & DARCIE'S WEDDING
Saturday, October 25, 2008

Hope you are all doing great!  I myself am actually sitting at home on a Saturday afternoon - and as a wedding photographer - this is a sign of wedding season coming to a close and winter is just around the corner.   Matt, Katie and I have all had an incredible summer meeting some of the most amazing people - and having the great privilege of documenting your wedding days...but we haven't been able to share but a sliver of these events on the blog.   So...I thought I would start today with Andrew and Darcie's wedding.  For those of you planning for an upcoming wedding - I LOVED all of their ideas and details...so I'll be sure to share many of those as well.

Darcie and Andrew were married at her parent's home outside of Boulder, Colo.  A few shots of her getting ready....

Andrew and Darcie decided that they wanted to see each other prior to the ceremony...a shot of Andrew awaiting Darcie -

Darcie and her dad.

And dad keeping an eye on the time prior to guests arriving for the big ceremony...

The ceremony setting was beautiful and relaxed.  Andrew and Darcie even made their own arch they stood under.

As guests started to arrive and congregate at the ceremony site - we were able to catch both Andrew and his mom looking out the windows just before the ceremony began.

The ceremony begins!

Some of the details from the day - the theme was a fiesta...and it lived up to the theme without question!

After the ceremony...

Andrew and Darcie did a great improptu dance with the mariachi band!

Congrats Andrew and Darcie!  I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Jenna

Lauren & Tony's Wedding
Tuesday, October 07, 2008

Playful. There is no other way to describe these two and their wedding. Cowboy boots. Cruiser bikes. And no hesitations to have a boot-stomping good time the whole day through.  I shouldn't have anticipated any less...what else would you expect from a first dance to the tune of bluegrass music, complete with an old-school washboard.  It was a perfect day high up in the hills of Colorado.

Congrats Lauren & Tony! Enjoy your honeymoon in Vietnam!

much love,

Katie
