WITH GRATITUDE ON THANKSGIVING DAY
Thursday, November 27, 2008

The air is still this Thanksgiving morning.  Matt has made his way over to his parents house to start the early morning preparations of Thanksgiving with his dad and uncle.  I am alone for a moment.  The dogs are sleeping on the floor and my cup of coffee is full.  I am sitting here with immense gratitude for the blessings life has brought us this year.

Thanksgiving is always such a reflective holiday for me.  It seems to be that day that comes around every year where we stop and look back at what life has brought - and give thanks.   We look ahead and hope for great things to come but with a humbleness for what we already have.  It is a holiday that isn't about want - but about appreciating that our simplest and most important needs in life have been met with great richness.   A richness that can only be provided by loved ones around us - it is a gratitude for the people in our lives that make them complete and full of love.

My heart is heavy with thankfulness for my most loving husband.  The person who makes our life so much more than I could have ever dreamed on my own.  I am so grateful to my sister Katie who is not only the best business partner we could ever ask for - but a dreamer filled with a zest for life that inspires me every single day.  I am filled with joy with thoughts of our families - thank you to each of you for who you are and all that you do for all of us.   To our parents - you are who we want to be when we grow up.  To Anna, I am so grateful for you and your health.  You are a humble brave spirit that moves me.  To Josh, I am so grateful for your constant friendship as the amazing brother I never thought life would bring.  To all of our friends, you are all so unique and make our lives complete.   To all of our clients, thank you for being you and giving us the chance to be a part of your lives and document life as we see it.  We feel so indebted to all of you and please know how fortunate we feel to have your trust in documenting such important times in your life.  It is an honor and privlege.

But there is one more thing that my heart can't even explain this morning.  It is a gratefulness for the one thing that has brought us more joy in the last year than I have ever experienced in my entire life.  This January, we will welcome into the world our first little Walker. I'm so grateful for a healthy, happy pregnancy - something we don't take for granted at all.   I am so grateful for this little person that we haven't met yet - but I feel so much love for.  I am grateful for life to come.  I am grateful for the opportunity life has blessed us with to be parents.

Meet our little sprout.  We don't know whether it is a boy or girl - but these are the first photos from a couple of months ago...we call it "the thinker" in this shot.

I wish you all a safe and happy Thanksgiving - you mean the world to us!  Here's to great food with friends and family today!

With love,

Jenna

CAROLINE & EDMUND'S WEDDING
Sunday, November 16, 2008

The ways of classic romantics are not forgotten - Caroline & Edmund's wedding was case in point. There was a sense of sentimental and timeless love surrounding their day, a very poetic and intimate mood among 40 of their closest family and friends. Sure, there are so many different types of weddings - the earthy, boot-stompin' kind. the soul-shakedown-reception-that-goes-all-night kind. the contemporary kind. each wedding unique. each just as wonderful.  Caroline & Edmund's wedding was, indeed, wonderful - it was completely and beautifully its OWN.

Caroline & Edmund were married at the Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch in Beaver Creek, Colorado - an AMAZING escape with moody interiors, elegant ballrooms, cozy corners and of course, breathtaking views. And if the views weren't enough, they hired Heather at Table 6 Productions and Cindy at the Perfect Petal to put the polishing touches on the day. Special thanks to Kevin Von Qualen for shooting with me.

And now for the story...

Caroline and her mother pinned her mother's keepsake ring on the inside of the dress - her something borrowed - and blue! They were too sweet together.

There is such an elegance in the way Caroline carries herself - she has put so much thought into the day and took the time to embrace each bit of the day - with an ease and appreciation that really showed. Edmund gave her this necklace as her wedding gift...

Caroline seeing her Dad.

Edmund and his groomsmen.

And the ladies...

Cindy at the Perfect Petal really WOWed us with her work - I love love love her fresh spin on the bridesmaids' bouquets.

And the programs and ceremony readings were perfectly polished. Not a detail missed.  Caroline printed her vows on the purple paper - to carry behind her bouquet. And the readings - from their favorite classic books including the Velveteen Rabbit - were rolled into ornate scrolls.

And for the first time, Caroline makes her way down the aisle, meeting Edmund at last.

Their ceremony was held outdoors on the back patio of the Ritz.  Heather made sure guests were taken care of with space heaters and these very wintry blankets...love it!

They wrote their own vows - very sweet and romantic.

Did I mention we had some special guests?! Meet Atticus - Caroline's favorite furry friend.

They planned several special details for the ceremony - including this rose ceremony wherein they gave roses to their parents and grandparents.

Newlyweds!

It was pretty windy up there later in the day. Caroline's cathedral veil, embroidered with their initials and wedding date, danced in the wind.  The way these two relate to one another speaks volumes about that classic romanticism that they share...very sweet.

The English feel to their reception - a job well-done by Heather at Table 6 Productions. I loved the hedges and simple touches of elegance.

At 6:15, the hour they first met, Caroline & Edmund lit the candles of their guests' tables - in a "unity ceremony."  This was the first time I had seen this at a reception - and a very intimate way to greet their guests.  The last table they were to light was their own.

Toasts.

Their first dance.

Congrats Caroline & Edmund! It was an absolute joy to be a part of your day - you share something so special and I have no doubt you'll continue to find the poetry in all of life's details.

lots of love,

Katie

LINDSAY & CHRIS' WEDDING
Sunday, November 09, 2008

It was the destination wedding not to be missed - Lindsay and Chris welcomed over 200 guests to the Tucson area for more than just a wedding weekend.  It was a gathering of guests from Greece and beyond, coming together for a week filled with events that spanned from stargazing to a trip across the border to a plate-breaking good time in the tradition of their Greek roots...all of this came to a grand finale on Saturday at the Westward Look Resort.  With those beautiful sweeping blue skies that Arizona rarely fails to produce, it was an amazing day. Thank you Lindsay and Chris for being such gracious hosts. I am so grateful to have been a part of your day. And a special thanks to the very talented Kevin Von Qualen for joining to shoot.

Now on to their story...

I loved her shoes!

Lindsay and her Mom early on in the day.

She has such a striking look! We were able to learn more and more about the two of them throughout the day - it was such a blessing to hear what great people they are.  Not only is this girl beautiful...she's a world traveler WITH a pilot's license!

Chris with his ringbearer....so sweet.

There was so much love to go around that day. Their best friends and siblings are true advocates in their life and it was beautiful to witness, firsthand, the genuine admiration and respect that everyone has for one another.  As we were taking photos with Lindsay and her family, we noticed a cheerful group of her girlfriends looking on with cheer and anticipation. Love it.

Chris' parents live in Greece and were celebrating their 40th anniversary on the very same day. There was something so symbolic in this...to see it all come full circle. And to see the love that these two have for each other and the love that they hope for Lindsay and Chris.

The ceremony was held on the rooftop of Westward Look Resort at Sunset.  Guests were invited to join with a glass of wine just as the sun was setting, awaiting the ceremony's start. It was such a unique way to gather around the ceremony that was about to take place.

It is so unique to watch the joy that guests have for the newlyweds.  During the vows, you can see a couple leaning in - this, to me, is the most true form of flattery. I have noticed this more than once at weddings whose ceremonies allow love to really take hold.

Into the setting sun as newlyweds!

An outdoor cocktail hour just below the rooftop ceremony site.

First dance.

And a setting sun to match!

Congrats Lindsay & Chris! It was truly an HONOR to be a part of your special day. Everyone in your group was so gracious - and the energy and love unrivaled. I can't wait to hear about all the great ways you find adventure in life.

Lots of love!

Katie

MEGAN & MATT'S WEDDING
Wednesday, November 05, 2008

I have been meaning to share Megan & Matt's wedding for quite some time now...I just can't believe it is already November! Megan & Matt were married down at the beautiful  Broodmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs this September. It was a destination wedding nothing short of stunning. From the meaningful ceremony to their horse-drawn carriage getaway, not a detail was missed.

We were so impressed by the Broadmoor's service as well as the spectacular Nada of RSVP Weddings.

On to the story...

Megan seeing her Dad for the very first time...they are so sweet together.

Grandmas are the best, aren't they?

Their ceremony was held at the Broadmoor's Mountain View Terrace - perfect as the sun set...

And a reception in the Rocky Mountain West Ballroom - I loved their lighting.

First dance.

Proud Mom looks on as Megan dances with her Dad.

Congrats Megan & Matt!

much love,

Katie
