When we set out for Carrie and Perry's Aspen wedding this past weekend, I knew it would be beautiful but boy did I underestimate just how stunning we'd find it. There are few ceremony sites that give guests a good hike - one of those places that leaves you feeling in the middle of nowhere. Consider it found!

We were amazed by their stunning selection for their ceremony site - picturesque Hallam Lake, just a stone's throw (but world away) from downtown Aspen. The serene ceremony was rivaled only by their tented reception at the St. Regis. Big thanks and admiration to Marcy at Creative Weddings for her vision and execution of the day...if you are looking for an amazing planner with equal mastery over logistics, creativity and positivity - she's your gal.

And to Carrie and Perry - we are in so much awe of your grace, class and love. Here's to a life chalk full of just that!

Ironic? Perhaps. But something worth celebrating? Absolutely. After all, they call it dancing in the rain for a reason. This Saturday was especially lucky - the rain didn't stop. Nor did the celebrating. Julie and Brett tied the knot out at the amazing Pastures of Plenty, an organic farm outside of Boulder.

As Julie said herself, "Today, the people here will be the sunshine." Amen to that.

Props to Julie and Brett and all of their guests for having a hootenanny of a good time, to Gabbie and Spice at Calluna Events for bringing it all together and to the folks at Pastures of Plenty for the beautiful backdrop.

I'm sitting at the studio this evening as the clouds are rolling into Denver - it's thundering in the distance. Everything is quiet around me and I'm just thinking about the big season of weddings we are about to embark upon. No engagement shoot with Krista and Eric tonight - the clouds have dictated other plans for us all. But as I sit here - I feel this overwhelming sense of pride, happiness and anticipation. On Saturday, we'll start the season off by photographing Lauren and Andy's wedding - and Katie with Julie and Brett. And somehow - after 5 full years of photographing weddings - I still get nervous. But nervous in a good way...that 'want to do good and make things perfect' kind of way...

You see, your weddings are a huge responsibility to Katie, Matt and I. We feel a tremendous responsibility to be your eyes on the one day in your life that will pass you so quickly and be filled with so much love. This summer you will be surrounded by your friends and family - and they will watch you as you shine on your biggest day. I want you to know I'll be watching too...I'll be watching when your Dad sees you for the first time. I'll be watching when your groom sees you out of the corner of his eye the split second you begin to appear down the aisle. I'll be watching when you experience real joy - and you will. And I'll be watching when you SHINE.

I want you to know that when things get stressful as you lead up to the big day - that we are only a phone call away. I want you to know that you can call us - and maybe, just maybe we'll have some good advice. I want you to know that we are invested in you and care deeply about you and your families.

So here's to you, our couples of the summer of 2010 - may you truly SHINE. This is your time.

I just wanted to share a few quick photos from Damaris and Airron's Denver wedding from a few weeks ago. The two of them are absolutely amazing. Coming from Chicago, friends and family flew in from across the country to celebrate with them at the Phipp's Mansion in Denver. They are so beautiful, stress-free and happy as a couple! They actually met on a 6am flight across the country. Damaris didn't wake up until the last five minutes of the flight...but those 5 minutes changed the course of their entire lives. Life is lucky like that!

Sandra and John are the type of people who walk through life with warm hearts and smiling eyes. Their family and friends? No different. We talked over the phone about the Lake Tahoe wedding they were planning, and I just knew we were kindred spirits. They wanted one of those small winter weddings centered around the people that meant the most to them. The little details wouldn't matter so much as it being a celebration filled with more laughter and sunsets than you'd know what to do with. And that it was - a stunning, soul-filled, sincere weekend.

We played a bit the day before. Not only did we have fun...they were so concerned that we finish early so we could get a day of skiing in (that we did!)

Well, we are back and in the full swing of things after adventures and time out of the country - and life is good! It feels so good to be working again! As we gear up for the full swing of wedding season, we are so grateful to all of our clients - past and present and can't wait to share all of our adventures with you!!! Here are just a few of the things we've been up to and you should see launch soon:

A new blog, a new treeSwing web site that is super cool, a women's photography retreat planned for February of 2010 to be announced soon, a new studio space, lots of shoots and more to be announced soon! We feel energized and excited and full of fresh ideas behind the camera and in our business!

It's the Colorado tradition that keeps on, despite front-range temptations for picnics, mountain biking and warm sunny days in the park. I was lucky enough to join Nancy and Nate for their engagement shoot on one of those classic spring skiing days. Blue skies. Slushy snow. And a whole lotta frolicking. Nate and Nancy, however, have a tradition of their own that will always keep Breckenridge ski resort near and dear to their heart: Nate proposed on top of the mountain.

We had a blast returning to their celebrated stomping grounds. There was no shortage of fun...or formal wear for that matter. We met that morning at the gondola. Fully expecting them to arrive in their ski garb, I was delightfully surprised by their choice to 'keep it classy' on the mountain. Think James Bond meets Dior. Now that is something I'll aspire to next time I set out for the mountain!

Nate and Nancy are getting married this January in Houston. Here's a lil' tale from the day...
