Allow people into your business and your life. That’s what we’ve always believed.
But believing it and owning it every single day are two very different things and it’s easy to get caught up in a world of expectations. It’s easy to slowly let your true self get lost in the mix of ‘professionalism’ or ‘the way things are.’ We told ourselves we wouldn’t teach until we felt we could do just that – share everything. everything. with our true voices. with transparency. leaving not a detail out. We told ourselves we wouldn’t teach unless we could truly own that perspective of plenty.
And so, with fifteen women and countless guests of honor (to whom we are SO insanely grateful) – we collectively decided to believe in each other, support each other – and to live on that island where there is plenty of inspiration to be acted upon, plenty of people to be met, plenty of success to go around.
Together, the conversation changed entirely. Real people expressing real dreams. real fears. real courage. real possibility.
And so, without ever having enough words to express our thanks – here’s just a small bit of what we love. about. you.
You are authentic. And you are transparent. And you are real. And you are dreamers. And doers. And you are not the status quo. And we want you to make your mark. You are not trying to be perfect. And you are not trying to be too professional. That’s just boring. And who really likes boring? You are unapologetic for being you and being fun. It turns out we like fun.
And if we should all take only one thing from this workshop, from this weekend, from this life…or only learn one lesson – may it be this….
We are humbled by everyone who supported us in this workshop – from each of the 15 women who made it great, to the panelists and guest speakers who shared their voice and put it all on the table – to the clients who cheered us on, the models, the talented vendors who donated their time…and to our families and friends that didn’t see us a good chunk of March…Each of you, your support does not go unnoticed. We know we are where we are because. of. you.
And finally, to Matt Walker – who is our partner in crime in our business, the guy who keeps us on track and reminds us how to be good and do good. He may not have been the face of our business this weekend but he surely owns the heart and voice of what we do. It just so happens, he has the wrong parts to host the workshop! we love you matt! (as an aside, he did mention he is offering mentoring sessions to husbands of SUBSTANCE attendees (lol!) – as surely, there are a few women who just may quit their day job in the very near future…awesome.)
